As a human centric interaction designer you will work with
a skilled, multi-disciplinary team of designers and engineers
to ideate, develop, and design the user experience for HP
inkjet printers and related web based services and applications.
This will include design of and participation in field and
lab research, analysis and interpretation of both secondary
and primary research data streams, ideation of user space
solutions, creation of interactive prototypes for use in user
participatory design and internal communication, creation
of concept communication vehicles, fully developed interaction
design expressions (including active prototypes), and specification
of interaction designs.
You will work directly with other design professionals and
those from different disciplines and functions (engineering,
marketing, quality) to define and implement interaction designs
in the product/user interaction space.

Position: University of Oregons Product Design Program
is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant or
Associate Professor beginning fall term 2010 with the possibility
of beginning earlier. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
Qualifications: We seek applicants who will provide a leadership
role in our new Product Design Program. A master's or PhD
in Industrial/Product Design, Interior Architecture/Design,
Art, Engineering or Architecture or other related field is
required. In remarkable cases the committee will consider
candidates holding a bachelors-level degree in a related
field as indicated above, combined with highly exceptional
and relevant professional experience suitable for appointment
as research faculty at the University of Oregon. Successful
candidates will bring a sophisticated understanding of design
aesthetics, background in product design, and broad knowledge
of design research and innovative applications. Teaching experience
as well as experience in professional practice, studio design
or research is highly desirable. We seek applicants dedicated
to professional growth and teaching, with the ability to work
cooperatively with diverse students and faculty.
Position Description: Faculty in the Product Design Program
teach undergraduate courses that integrate an understanding
of product design theory and practice. The typical teaching
load is six courses/studios per year (quarter system). Faculty
are expected to have well-defined research or creative practice
interests and to engage in sustained inquiry into emerging
issues in their area of expertise through the pursuit of funded
research, scholarly publication and/or recognized professional
practice. Other responsibilities of program faculty include
advising and supervising undergraduate students in the Product
Design Program as well as undergraduate students in allied
fields, and service on administrative committees. The Product
Design Program is currently an undergraduate program, however,
we expect to establish a graduate component within five years.
The Product Design Program currently has 2 faculty members,
100 undergraduate majors, and is rapidly growing.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a perspective
on the evolution of design pedagogy and design practice in
the following areas: hand- and computer-based drawing; physical
(ie: SLA) and virtual (ie: CAD) tools of design.
Product Design and Collaborators: The University of Oregons
strong liberal arts tradition offers a rich and flexible curriculum
that allows undergraduate students to select from many course
offerings in business, anthropology, biology, chemistry, and
environmental studies along with the major requirements. The
interdisciplinary nature of product design studies and practice
is reflected in the courses required for the product design
majors. The Product Design Program, located within the School
of Architecture and Allied Arts, offers a BA/BS in Material
and Product Studies and a BFA in Product Design. The program
is based in Eugene and has additional offerings in Portland.

for the McAfee Design Studio. This position is responsible for
researching and designing next generation security product interfaces

Senior Interaction Designers within the McAfee Design Studio
lead the creation of new products interfaces from concept to
